Radcliffe Camera

The Radcliffe Camera is an annex of the Bodleian Library. It was built from 1737 to 1749 in the Palladian style. It is named after the philanthropist John Radcliffe and the Latin word “camera” means “room”.

The Bodleian Library was established in 1602 and collects more than 13 million books. It is the most prestigious library in Oxford as well as one of the oldest in Europe.

The Divinity School is the oldest teaching room at the university. It was built from 1427 to 1483 in the Perpendicular Gothic style. Its lierne vaulting forms a magnificent ceiling. The room is best known for being one of the filming locations for the Harry Potter movies.

University Church of St. Mary the Virgin

The University Church of St. Mary the Virgin is the building around which the university was developed. An Anglo-Saxon church was first present in 1086. A major reconstruction was carried out at the turn of the 16^th century in the Perpendicular Gothic style. The church has an atypical Baroque porch and a tower that provides a panoramic view of the city.
